Crime Report: Victim’s wallet stolen from purse while grocery shopping

Sept. 16

Burglary, business (garage): 600 block of Houseman Street: A man employed by L.A.-based KAC Ventures told deputies that when he arrived at his job site at 6:55 a.m. that morning, he noticed the garage door was open. When he entered, he noticed someone had stolen a gravel compactor and two rock cutters that he’d left there at around 5 p.m. the day before. Officers noticed the suspect had cut a padlock on the door to access the garage and observed the cut padlock on the ground nearby. No witnesses could be located.

Sept. 21

Petty theft: 600 block of Foothill Boulevard. A woman reported that while she was shopping between 4 and 5 p.m., someone reached into her unattended shopping cart and stole her wallet from her purse. A black plastic wallet from Caesar’s Palace, along with cash, two credit cards and an EBT card were taken. The victim contacted the store manager to see if it had been returned; when she learned it had not been, she contacted police. The following day, the victim learned her card had been used in the same store at 5:17 p.m. the day of the theft. She canceled all accounts.
