Letter: Take advantage of the area’s trails

Share

I have been a trail user in our town, for more than 20 years and I have to say that the trails have never looked better! We are so fortunate to live in a community that has over 22 miles of multiple-use trails. Now is a great time to get out and explore those trails, the weather is pleasant, there is maximum daylight and the trails are in great shape.

The L.A. County Riding and Hiking Trails Crew has been in our city for the past month doing a fantastic job of grooming and repairing their trails. The 40-acre Cherry Canyon open space area, with its many trails and beautiful views, is maintained by the city. All the Cherry Canyon trails are open.

Equestrians, cyclists, dog walkers, runners, hikers and families can all enjoy sharing the trails. With so many users, it is important to remember that trail courtesy makes for a pleasant experience. Also, remember to protect yourself from the sun and always bring water. It takes a lot of time and energy on the part of many people to keep the trails safe, natural and beautiful. I encourage you to find a trail and join the fun.

There are many trail access points throughout the city. Trail maps are available at Sport Chalet, Flintridge Bookstore, Adobe Design and the LCF Chamber of Commerce. The LCF Trails Council maintains a website at lcftrails.org. If you see a problem or want to make a comment, please call the LCF Public Works Department, (818) 790-8882. Our City Council members and city staff are dedicated trail supporters. This great city asset is there for everyone to enjoy.

Happy trails.
