GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Chaminade 0: The visiting Tologs wrapped up third place in the Mission league and clinched a playoff spot Monday with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 win. The victory put Sacred Heart (12-12, 6-4 in league) into a tie with Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for third place, but Sacred Heart held the tiebreaker thanks to its two head-to-head wins over the Knights.

“The girls are free from trying to make it into playoffs and now they can just play volleyball and enjoy the matches,” first-year Tologs Coach Ernest Banaag said.

Katie Conley had 22 kills for the Tologs.

La Cañada 3, Temple City 0: The Spartans closed out the regular season in impressive fashion with a sweep over the Rams, 25-11, 25-14, 25-8, at home. La Cañada’s Micaela Anderson finished with a team-high 13 kills, while Kendall Walbrecht finished with nine kills and a team-high seven digs. Megan Swartzlander, who had six digs, and Taylor Page finished with four aces each for the Spartans.

La Cañada falls just outside of the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA rankings and will have to wait for the playoff brackets to be unveiled by CIF Saturday at 12:30 p.m. to determine when it will play next.

The Spartans went 2-3 in the Redondo Union Power Classic over the weekend, winning their first two matches against El Dorado (25-13, 25-3) and North Torrance (25-19, 25-22) before falling to Palisades (20-25, 25-20, 16-14), Los Altos (25-23, 25-15) and Yorba Linda (25-22, 25-20).

Anderson had a team-high 49 kills in the tournament with Walbrecht not far behind with 41 kills and 32 digs. Loren Shin led the Spartans in digs with 47 over the five matches.
