A portion of Angeles Crest Highway will remain closed until early August due to damage to the roadway caused by this past weekend’s storms, according to the California Department of Transportation.

An 18.3-mile stretch of the highway between Islip Saddle—about 43 miles east of La Cañada Flintridge—and Big Pines Road sustained damage from rock slides this weekend. Caltrans is in the process of hiring a contractor to repair the roadway.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to take alternate routes, Caltrans said in a release.
