KCPL Crews Help Restore Power in Joplin

Empire District Electric Company

Crews from KCPL are heading to Joplin to help restore power. More than 13,000 homes have been without electricity since Sunday's tornado. Now, about 60 employees will leave Kansas City on Tuesday morning to help get things back to normal.

KCPL employees have helped with other disasters this spring like tornados in St. Louis and Arkansas. They will be the only utility company to help Empire District Electric work on the power situation. It's possible crews could stay in Joplin up to two weeks.
