Salem at William Byrd

The Salem Spartans who knocked off Franklin County last week in a tight one at home, hit the road for Vinton this week and Bob Patterson Stadium, where the William Byrd Terriers awaited.  Jeff Highfill's team always seems to play the Spartans tough.

This game was no exception as Big Orange came out fired up and ready to play. Zach Hill set the tone early, on the opening drive of the game, he broke a tackle and burst into the open field, he was finally tracked down from behind, but not before getting 51 yards all the way to the Salem one yard line. Hill pounded it in on the next play, the Terriers jumped on top 7-0 early in the first.

The Terriers were looking for more in the 2nd, but Chad Fisher stepped in front of a pass, got the interception, and he was head the other way for the vistitors, the return set up shop in Byrd territory.

From there, Fisher would cap a touchdown drive, hauling it in from QB Matt Hill, the 11 yard score would tie things up at 7.  Byrd put up a fight in this one, but the Spartans were too strong, moving to 3 and 0 with the 28 to 21 win.
