Archbishop Rummel's Cyril Grayson will try to pull a double at LSU, after winning two state titles Saturday.

Grayson was taking final senior exams this week after passing a big test in Saturday's 5A track meet at LSU. He repeated as 800 meter champion, and won the 5A 400 meter title, too.

Grayson says he's learned a lot in his time on Severn Avenue: "I have learned that hard work pays off. If I didn't come and work hard Monday through Friday, I couldn't do it on Saturdays when I had to perform."

Grayson also played his first full year at wide receiver this past fall and starred for a Rummel team that reached the quarterfinals. He signed a track scholarship with LSU and hopes to play football, as well.

Rummel football coach Jay Roth tells WGNO Sports that college football coaches missed on Grayson, by filling their scholarships too early: "Guys, where were ya'll last year? People recruit, and they don't worry about what kind of year they had their senior season. I think some people missed the boat on that."

Cyril Grayson of Archbishop Rummel is our New Orleans VooDoo Athlete of the Week.
