French Quarter Fest is your last chance to "enjoy" the outdoors until the fall

Arts and CultureNew Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

The summer heat and humidity are right around the corner.  Our 3-4 week spring is almost over.  Time to take advantage of this wonderful weather we're having and head down to French Quarter Festival 2012.

For the 29th year, the south's largest free festival is underway.  For the 2nd straight year the French Quarter Fest folks have stolen a page from the Jazz Fest and added local's Thursday.  Yesterday went off without any problems and it sets things up for smooth sailing this weekend.

For the next 3 days you can take in over 800 musicians and enjoy the tastes of over 65 local restaurants.  The great thing about French Quarter Fest is it truly is all local.  Every mucisian is a local New Orleans mucisian.  No outta-towners.  Same goes for the food.  All local, New Orleans based restaurants and food.  Gotta love that.

The doors open at 11am and the French Quarter Fest doesn't shut down 'til 9 nightly.

So get off your sofa and head down to French Quarter Festival 2012.  It might be your last chance to get outside and actually enjoy the weather til October.
