Suspect in December Murder on Bass Street Arrested

Members of The New Orleans Police Department have arrested 18-year-old Bernette Darby wanted in connection with the murder of 26- year-old Joey Davis. The incident occurred on December 6, 2009, at about 7 p.m., in the 8000 block of Bass Street.

According to investigators, Seventh District officers responded to a call of a "male down" and upon their arrival, located the victim lying on the street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene

During the course of the investigation, Homicide Detective Christopher Harris identified Bernette Darby as the person responsible for the murder and secured an arrest warrant. This morning Darby was apprehended by members of the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad without incident, at 4801 Florida Avenue.

Bernette Darby was booked with (1) Count of Second Degree Murder and relocated to central lock up.
