$2.7m Grant To Fund Gustav Recovery Jobs

The Labor Department is doling out more than$2.7 million in federal grant money to help pay for clean up andrecovery efforts in Louisiana after Hurricane Gustav in 2008.

The grant announced Monday will be awarded to the LouisianaWorkforce Commission and will be used to create more temporary jobsfor workers assisting in Gustav recovery.

The Labor Department says some of the money will be used to helpworkers obtain permanent employment after the project is completed.

In the storm's aftermath, the federal government awarded a totalof $22.2 million to pay for up to 4,000 temporary recovery jobs.
