A U.S. Marshals task force arrested and charged the man accused of a fatal shooting with second-degree for a murder that happened two months ago on Hamilton Street.
Police found Fitzroy "Boy George" George, 27, in Kenner on Dec. 1. He was charged for the murder of 29-year-old Eric Cargo in the 4000 block of Hamilton Street on the Oct. 19.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas gave credit to the Hamilton Street residents who came forward and identified George as the shooter involved in the murder.
"I want to thank the many residents who came to police to share what they knew about this shooting. The information they provided was key in identifying this suspect, and it led to authorities catching up with him in just a matter of weeks," Serpas said.
According to police reports, George has previous arrests for damaged property and battery. Cargo was wanted for traffic attachments at the time of his death and was currently on parole for cocaine possession. Police also said Cargo had many prior arrests including possession of coca leaves, marijuana possession, simple battery, theft and simple robbery.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
