Jordan Palmer threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Kevin Elliott with 1:40 to play as Jacksonville rallied to beat the Saints 27-24 in a preseason game Friday night at theMercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Saints had rallied from a 17-10 halftime deficit to take the lead on a pair of Chase Daniel touchdown passes.
Daniel threw 53 yards to Joseph Morgan in the third quarter, and 24 yards to rookie Travaris Cadet with 3:32 to play to give the Saints a 24-20 lead.
Drew Brees played all of the first quarter and most of the second. He completed 10 of 13 passes for 133 yards and an 8 yard second quarter touchdown pass to Devery Henderson.
The Saints first unit defense turned in its worst effort of the preseason. Jacksonville starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert completed 13 of 16 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. The Jaguars also rushed for 170 yards on 31 carries.
The Saints also suffered what could be at least two significant injuries. Linebacker Chris Chamberlain and wide receiver both suffered apparent leg injuries. The Saints did not release any update on either player.
