First round pick Malcolm Jenkins got in his first on field work as a Saint today at rookie mini-camp.

In individual work the media was allowed to view, Jenkins and fourth round pick Chip Vaughn led the defensive backs. Jenkins, who can play safety, said he worked exclusively at cornerback in the drills.

Punter Thomas Morstead got in extensive work after team drills. The Saints 5th round pick from SMU showed off a strong leg, punting one ball 65 yards from scrimmage. Morstead also displayed excellent hang time.

Saints rookies will work Friday afternoon, twice Saturday, and once Sunday.

Among those given tryouts at this mini-camp were former LSU defensive end Chase Pittman.

The free agent quarterbacks working were Nathan Brown of Central Arkansas, Drew Weatherford of Florida State, and Patrick Cowan of UCLA.
