For the second straight year, the Saints have drafted a cornerback in the first round.

With the 32nd and final pick in the first round, the Saints selected Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson.

Robinson has great speed. He ran a 4.42 40 yard dash time at the NFL combine. Robinson had 11 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles as a senior. He was a second team all ACC selection.

The Saints now have a surplus of cornerbacks. Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer are the starters. Last year's first round pick Malcolm Jenkins, Robinson, and Randall Gay are backups. Jenkins could be moved to free safety where he would compete with Usama Young.

Saints safety Darren Sharper, a Pro Bowl selection, remains an unsigned unrestricted free agent.
