Tulane commits five turnovers in 37-23 defeat

Tulane quarterback Ryan Griffin was intercepted three times and fumbled as the Green Wave fell to Memphis 37-23 Saturday night at the Liberty Bowl.

The game was tied at 16 in the third quarter when Memphis went on a 21 point run to put the game away.

Tevin Jones' 52 yard catch and run put the Tigers up 23-16. Tank Jakes' 32 yard interception return for a touchdown put Memphis up 37-16.

"Hats off to Memphis," said Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson. "They played well and got some turnovers."

Griffin completed 25 of 43 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown pass to Ryan Grant.

Tulane, 2-8, hosts East Carolina Saturday at 2:30 pm. It is senior day for the Green Wave.
