The Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to announce its programming for the 2009/2010 20th anniversary season. The season is comprised of four concerts, each taking place at Pick-Staiger Hall in Evanston.
The concert on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 7 p.m., is an intimate evening with the First Chair players and their friends. Featured works include Sextet in C Major, Opus 37 by Ernst von Dohnanyi and Piano Quartet in G Minor, Opus 25 by Johannes Brahms. Although Dohnanyi was a Hungarian conductor, composer and pianist and drew influences from Hungarian folk music, his approach is deeply rooted in the strongest traditions of European classical music and often evokes that of Johannes Brahms. Brahms, a German composer and pianist, was one of the leading musicians of the Romantic period. This evening is sure to deliver vibrant and moving performances with a special Eastern European flair.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
