We're right in the middle of Tom Skilling's Storm Chase week, and the chase kicked off with a bang.

On the first day the team saw tornadoes through Kansas and Tom Skilling saw his very first live tornado. Because of the great conditions for storm chasing, the Weather Team ran into serveral other weather experts, including the Discovery Channel's Reed Timmer in their heavy-armored chasing vehicle known as The DOMINATOR.

We've been following their every move on our iMap Tracker, and you can follow along until Friday when their chase comes to an end.

Here are the links if you haven't checked them out yet.

You can follow along by going to www.wgntv.com/stormchase or to www.chicagoweathercenter.com/severe/stormchase and clicking on Tom Skilling's Flashing Car. You won't see a flashing car until Skilling starts his storm chase on May 10, but once he gets out there, you'll be able to track his progress for the entire week!

Tom will be out there with a weather-savvy crew, including Jim Reed, a world-renowned still photographer and storm chaser. Jim has seen some epic storms in his 20 years of storm chasing, including Hurricane Katrina and 2004's Hurricane Charley.

His website, www.jimreedphoto.com, includes photos and video of some of his best weather photography. My favorites are the action shots under his editorial section. You can get a feel for how close he really gets to the storm.

Follow Tom Skilling's Storm Chase through this week wgntv.com/stormchase and you can get a behind-the-scenes look at what's going on in the truck as they post blog updates throughout the trip.
