H. The 57-year-old had been undergoing treatment for leukemia. Under Burg's leadership, the Akron-based company doubled in size to become the nation's fifth-largest electric utility system. Burg also steered FirstEnergy through several difficult months when it became the focus last summer of the nation's worst blackout, which affected 50 million people in eight states and Canada.
