Iranian presidential candidates attend memorial

Iranian religious and political leaders, including candidates in Friday's presidential election, gathered below a portrait of late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini last week on the 24th anniversary of his death. Khomeini, leader of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, left an enduring legacy of clerical control of Iranian society. None of the eight men vying for the presidency would be likely to ease the religious strictures or Iran's isolation in the world.
