In what police are calling a tragic accident, a 13-year-old boy killed his father Tuesday after inadvertently mowing him down with a car while being taught how to drive.

According to police, John Cedeno, 45, was attempting to teach his son how to park on East Tremont Avenue near Schley Ave. in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx around 9 p.m. The teenager lost control of the Porsche SUV and struck his father, police said.

Before the incident, the family had dined at the Latin Kitchen restaurant - where they were regular customers. Waiters at the eatery said the boy was asking the father if he could drive the car.

Officials said it appeared Cedeno had been standing next to the open driver's side car door as the child attempted to park. When the boy lost control of the vehicle, he struck Cedeno and pinned him against a tree.

Witnesses told police the boy appeared to be traumatized after the crash. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
