Bronx Man Attacks Roommate With Machete, Sets Self On Fire

Bronx (New York City)

Police are trying to find out what set off a Bronx man, accused of attacking a man believed to be his roommate with a machete, before setting himself -- and his house on fire.

According to authorities, things started to spiral out of control Sunday around 9 a.m.

That's when -- they say -- the 36-year-old man slashed a 51-year-old man in the head, doused himself in accelerant, becoming a human torch, spreading flames throughout the two-story house on Southern Boulevard.

Authorities say a passing motorist saw the flames, jumped into action, rescuing the younger man, Both are reportedly in stable condition
