The USA's red, white and blue has turned to black and blue for star soccer player Abby Wambach, who was punched in the eye by Colombia's Lady Andrade during an Olympic soccer match.

During the 39th minute of the match, Wambach tussled with Lady Andrade and ended up on the ground, although the referees did not initially see anything. By the time an injury timeout was finally called, Wambach's eye was already swelling shut.

After the game, Wambach demanded FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) to review the video, of which Andrade called "an accident."

Lady Andrade had this to say to FIFA:

"Nothing happened," she said through an interpreter. "It was just a normal part of the game. We were both running, she ran across me and we collided. I had my hands in the air. It was an accident."

FIFA has come out with the decision to suspend the Colombian striker for two games, including the quarterfinal, if they qualify.

Despite the injury, Wambach tweets: Thanks for all the well wishes. Eye is healing fine. #reversesmokeyeye #notcool along with the photo.
