Hundreds of Firefighters Battle Brush Fires At Staten Island Park

FDNY officials are battling two brush fires in Great Kills Park in Staten Island.

One of the fires -- categorized as a six-alarm blaze -- was reportedly burning in the Fresh Kills section of the Gateway National Area.

The other blaze -- categorized as a four-alarm blaze -- was reportedly burning in a nearby residential area.

The first fire started near Woodrow Road around 2 p.m. The second blaze erupted around 3 p.m. near Hyland Blvd. and Buffalo Street.

Nearly 250 firefighters reported to the major fires. In addition, helicopters were spotted overhead, helping to drop water on the fires.

So far, no injuries have been reported.
