People who live in Hell's Kitchen say every night it feels like a mini-earthquake hits their Midtown Manhattan neighborhood.
"You hear the glasses rattle and my table was moving, something was very wrong," said Hell's Kitchen resident Cindy Finch.
Across the street on 44th street between 8th and 9th avenues, Shawn Coughlin was experiencing the same thing. "At 9:30ish at night, every night, there's a sound like a massive explosion. It's very disconcerting really."
PIX11 News called around and found city agencies pointing fingers at each other.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transportation told PIX11 News, "We are doing work on the number 7 subway line from 8 a.m. to 10 pm. But it's underground and people won't hear it....the noise is coming from the Port Authority."
The Port Authority said it is conducting, "routine sidewalk maintenance on one of the bus ramps during normal business hours" at 42nd street.
Whoever is responsible, Shawn Couglin say he just wants a straight answer, "I would like to know what is going on and where it is coming from and how long this will be happening," said Coughlin.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
