Hungry Yankees, Hungry Fans

NEW YORK (WPIX) -- When Babe Ruth strolled into Yankee Stadium in the 1920s, he clearly had his mind on home runs and hot dogs. And he had plenty of both throughout his illustrious career. But if The Babe were to stride into the new Yankee Stadium this coming 2009 season, which of course would be a miracle in itself, he would happen upon hot-pressed Cuban sandwiches, Asian noodle bowls and sushi.

Of course, there will still be the old favorites like Nathan's Famous hot dogs, but fans will also get a chance to gobble up garlic fries and Brother Jimmy's barbecue. Health food options will also be available as well as Kosher food choices.

While the Yankees home opener is set for April 16 against Cleveland, they will play two exhibition games at the new stadium on April 3 and April 4 versus the Chicago Cubs.

With all that in mind, here are some of our suggestions for Bronx Bomber related food items that have yet to be put on the official menu.

May we offer some C.C. Cannolis? Or the ever growing popular A-pretzel-RODs! How about the Pettitte butter and Jeter jelly sandwich? Actually they will have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available on a special kids' cart. I just like the name we gave it better.
