Suffolk police have arrested a Central Islip man in connection with the murder of a 24-year old Medford woman who went missing in December 2009.

Evan Ganthier, 30, will be arraigned in court Tuesday for second degree murder in the death of Rebecca Koster.

The suspect confessed to stabbing Koster four times in the chest but police are still trying to determine how the home health aide ended up with Ganthier. The relationship between Ganthier and the victim wasn't immediately clear.

Koster went missing December 4 after a night of drinking with friends. Her body was later found burned and butchered in North Stonington, Conn.

Parents of the victim said they continued to receive text messages from her cell phone days after authorities had pronounced her dead.

Police suspect the killer sent the messages to her family in an attempt to implicate Koster's boyfriend.
