Flames from a two-alarm house fire in Queens forced a firefighter to jump from a two-story window for safety early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out on the second floor of an attached house located at 37-18 68th Street in Woodside at about 6:45 a.m. and spread to the third-floor.

A firefighter battling the blaze was forced to climb out of a second floor rear window to escape the raging flames. He tried to hang onto the window frame, but had to let go and fall to the ground.

A fire chief at the scene told PIX 11 News the firefighter was transported to an area hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

It took firefighters over an hour to quell the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
