Police Distribute Flyers About Chelsea Attempted Rape Suspect

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and police distributed flyers Friday morning in efforts to help find a suspect in an attempted rape.

The crime took place April, 30 when the suspect followed a 24-year-old woman into her apartment building near Seventh Avenue and West 14th Street and tried to rape her, police said.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, between 30 to 35 years of age with long brown hair and a mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with white pants.

"We are giving out these flyers with descriptions of the crime and pictures of the perpetrator in the hopes that will jog somebody's memory," said Speaker Quinn.

The victim described the suspect as someone she thought was making a food delivery because the way he was dressed. The man had pushed he into her apartment, but her screams caused him to flee.
