Rain came pounding down on the streets of New York Wednesday evening, leaving nearly two inches of water in the city.
As the skies got darker, 1-inch hailstones poured over Midtown Manhattan. The National Weather Service issued a flood warning at 5:30 p.m., even though the rain had already started to calm down. Showers are still expected to last throughout the evening.
Former NFL player Dhani Jones snapped this picture of the storm and posted it on twitter. He was flying over Queens on a Delta flight by LaGuardia at 10,000 feet.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
