Firefighters were on the scene Friday as a three-alarm brush fire ripped through the Oakwood Beach section of Staten Island.
According to officials, the blaze broke out some time before 3 p.m. in a wooded area on both sides of Kissam Avenue. The other pocket of fire is on Fox Lane, officials said.
Nearby residents were forced to evacuate their homes, as firefighters scramble to save and maintain their property. Several emergency vehicles and helicopters were also on the scene assisting in the effort.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
