Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was shot in the head while walking on a sidewalk in Brooklyn Wednesday night.

According to the authorities, the teen victim was with a group of friends on Cornelia Street in the Bushwick section when gunfire broke out at about 11 p.m. One of the bullets struck the boy in the back of the head.

No other injuries were reported.

The boy has since been identified by the New York Post as Akeal Christopher.

A neighbor who heard the shooting, ran out of her home and performed CPR on Christopher while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

The teen was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in very critical condition. He underwent surgery early Thursday and is still in bad shape, police said.

Authorities are investigating whether the shooting was the result of a dispute over a girl.

Christopher had reportedly just graduated middle school on Tuesday.
