Three men were discovered dead near the grounds of Columbia University Thursday evening, according to police.

All three men were found slumped inside of a 2012 BMW 750i parked on Claremont at West 122nd St., with two in the front seats and one in the back. By the time they were discovered at 6:30 p.m., the white shirts worn by two victims were soaked in blood.

The men may have been shot from inside of the car, as cops found no casings immediately outside the vehicle.

"This seems like a safe area and this is kind of random," said student Julie Steiner. "I am just questioning what happened."

Police say they never received a 911 call to report a shooting in that neighborhood. The crime scene is located between the Manhattan School of Music and the Columbia campus, but police believe it is unlikely that the dead men were students.

A police investigation is ongoing.
