NEW YORK, N.Y. (WPIX) -- So in a little over a week, it'll be Valentine's Day. Incidentally a new online survey from BlogHer-iVillage is out, called "Valentine's Day: Heaven or Hell" and there are some surprising, and not so surprising results.
Lisa Stone, CEO of BlogHer says the survey asks the basic question: "Is Valentine's Day really important to women, or is it just commercial pressure?" Guys, better get ready because survey SAYS, women LOVE Valentine's Day.
In fact, 44% of those surveyed - the vast majority of them women - say they'd give up something special for a whole month just to have a good V-Day. 4% say they'd give up sex, while 8% said they'd give up ANYTHING, and fellas, they mean anything.
When the survey asked whether you would dump your mate before or after Valentine's Day, a whopping 41% said before. Now it's not really clear whether that 41% are just cheap, or if they want to make sure they find a new date before the big day. When asked that same question, 24% - presumably the thinkers in the survey - said it would depend on whether they were the dumper or the dumpee.
Of course the vast majority of single people said they hate the day. They see the loving glances of obviously enthralled couples over brunch at the local eatery as a personal, in-your-face knock at single-dom.
In the end, according to Stone, "It turns out the women enjoy celebrating the romance." So that's what they're looking for.
