Two days after a major fire destroys the former Lear Corporation Building, smoke is causing problems for those living nearby. Wednesday night, flames ripped through the building as firefighters worked to put it out through the night. Those living on Fairground Avenue were forced to evacuate. But on Friday, smoke was still making it hard for them to be outside.
"It's burning my eyes I’d hate to see what it's doing to my lungs," says John Martin of Carlisle.
Many are still picking up pieces of the building that flew into their yards. Most of the houses didn't have any damage, but one home's siding began to buckle because of the intense heat.
"I just spent two years working on the house, I didn't want to see it burn down," says Scott Yost of Carlisle.
Fox43 spoke with the Carlisle Fire Department, and they say the smoke should be cleared up within the next two days.
