12 Sewer Grates Stolen in Lancaster County

Four teens are facing criminal charges after police say they stole a dozen sewer grates in Lancaster County. Police say Matt Clark, 18, Justin Stillwagner, 18, Sky Saltsgiver, 18, and Jake Yost 19, all of Elizabethtown, stole a total of 10 storm sewer grates in Mount Joy Township between Thursday, May 31st and Friday June,1st. The grates were taken from Dairy lane, Ridgeview Road South, Ridgeview Road North, Mount Gretna Road and Northfield Drive.

Elizabethtown Borough Police also reported two sewer grates missing from the Elizabethtown Fair Grounds.

Each of the grates weighed about 230 pounds and were valued at $235 dollars, police said.

All of the teens are facing several charges including Theft by Unlawful Taking and Criminal Conspiracy.

Thefts of storm sewer grates have the potential to cause significant property damage and injury to people who may fall into them, police said.
