Baker bio: Hoffman works as an internal auditor for the federal government in Hollywood and says baking is her creative outlet. Her bundt recipe will appear in a collection of family recipes she hopes to have finished by Christmas. "Growing up, my family would always get together almost every weekend at my grandparents house in Cooperstown, N.Y. The farmhouse table sat 24 people." Some of those recipes will be old family favorites. Others, like her cake, were picked over the years and improved upon. The recipe: Cranberry apple pumpkin bundt cake with maple glaze and sugared pecans Why it won second place: There are four distinct elements to this dessert: densely moist cake; apple and cranberry filling; maple glaze and sugared pecans.
