PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A second whale has died after beachingitself in the Little Compton area this week.

A spokeswoman for the Mystic Aquarium and Institute forExploration, which has been looking into the deaths, says there'sno indication they are more than a coincidence.

Janelle Schuh, the aquarium's stranding coordinator, saidWednesday a 10-foot pilot whale died after thrashing in shallowwater near Sakonnet Point for about 30 minutes Tuesday night.

She says aquarium officials will take the animal to theirfacility for necropsy on Thursday.

A 30-foot humpback that died at sea was found Sunday on BriggsBeach. Schuh said that animal was too decomposed for necropsy. Abeach employee says it will be buried when tides push it out ofshallow water to solid ground, perhaps not for several days.
