STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - Two teenagers accused of stealing a taxi and running over a woman on a sidewalk in Stamford have surrendered to police.

Police say the alleged driver, 17-year-old Deondre Bowden of Bridgeport, and a passenger, 16-year-old Shaquille Johnson of Norwalk, turned themselves in Monday.

They're accused of stealing the taxi in Norwalk on Dec. 3. Police say the taxi rear-ended another car at a red light in Stamford, and Bowden tried to flee by driving onto a sidewalk on West Main Street.

Forty-eight-year-old Brenda Snell was seriously injured. She underwent several surgeries and is listed in fair condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Bowden is charged with first-degree assault, larceny and other crimes. Johnson is charged with larceny. Both were held on bail.
