1) Fairway Market

Just one look at the multitude of barrels containing over 100 types of coffee beans from all over the world and it’s apparent why Fairway is the Best Place to Buy Coffee Beans. Coffee and Tea Director Benny Lanfranco’s job is to make sure it stays that way. “We source the best coffee available in the market,” he says. “We have excellent prices. We roast all our own coffee. We buy only high-quality beans. We grind it as per the customer request, and you can make your own blend if you like.” You can also grab a hot cup from the café, of course. Beans are imported from such far-away locales as the Carribean, the Pacific, Jamaica, Hawaii, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Puerto Rico and Rwanda. They’re all fair-trade certified, meaning it’s ensured the farmer is getting paid a fair price for the coffee and it’s of a high quality. A great everyday coffee to sample would be the House Blend, while something like the Galapagos Island coffee is a more unique and rare find. The market also features over 600 types of cheeses, specialty olive oils they bottle themselves, fish, meats, organic groceries and produce and the like. It was one of the first businesses to move into the south end of Stamford on Canal Street and has helped to revitalize the entire area.
