Indiana High School Athletic Association

It only took one set, but eventually the giant was awoken.

After dropping the first set 25-22 to #2 Providence (35-5), the #1 Wapahani Raiders rolled off three straight sets (25-15, 25-6, 25-22) to capture their second-straight IHSAA volleyball Class 2A State championship. It is the third volleyball State championship in the program's history, with the Raiders winning the Class A title in 2002.

The Raiders were led by Senior Aubreigh Applegate, who led the squad with 21 kills and 26 digs. Junior Courtney Mithcell added 14 kills, while Junior Lindi Thomas also added 13.

Providence was led by Sophomore Taylor Wilson, who finished the afternoon with 10 kills.

With the victory, Wapahani will play in Class 3A in the 2013 season, while Providence will stay down in Class 2A.
