When it comes to Cathedral basketball, the entire season is a preparation for a brutal week of sectionals.
Lawrence North, North Central, Broad Ripple are among the talented teams that will await them once the IHSAA Class 4A tournament begins.
So far, though, the Irish are doing well in the preparations for Sectional 10, even as they start a new era of their program.
Andy Fagan has come in for longtime Cathedral coach Scott Hicks and has helped the Irish to a 15-1 record, including an 83-66 blowout win over Chatard on the road Monday night.
Despite a packed Trojans home court, the Irish were rarely challeged, leading by 11 and the break and then blowing it further open with an early second half run.
Jared Drew led the Irish in scoring with 20 while Collin Hartman finished with 16.
Cathedral has now won four consecutive games after getting knocked off by Northwest in the semi finals of the Indianapolis City Tournament on January 22nd. Before that the Irish had started the season with ten consecutive wins.
Fagan will take his team to Ben Davis on Friday night in hopes of getting that fifth straight win while Chatard-who fell to 7-9-stays home to face Ritter.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
