The BMW Championship is just a few months away and Central Indiana is gearing up to host it for the first time.

Golfer Justin Rose joined Governor Mitch Daniels and Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard for a ceremonial tee off Monday. They were joined by members of the media for a special golf outing at Crooked Stick.

The main event will be held this September and is part of a four-tournament season ending championship.

"It's going to bring national media coverage to this area, and in turn help make people aware of what this city and what this region and what this state has to offer," said Brainard.

Organizers said they’ve already sold more tickets than last year.  About 150,000 spectators are expected to descend on Crooked Stick for this year's event.
