Clermot man arrested, accused of trying to rob man at ATM

A Clermont man is accused of robbing a man at a bank ATM on Crawfordsville Road.

Police said Jamie Gregory, 29, has been preliminarily charged with robbery following the Tuesday night incident at the PNC Bank.

According to officials, Gregory approached a man at the bank's ATM, held a knife to his back and demanded the man empty his account. The victim, who just happens to be 6'5" tall and about 240 lbs., turned and squared off against the suspect. Gregory then fled the scene.

An on-duty officer heard the suspect's description over the radio and immediately identified an individual of whom he’s had previous dealings. The officer went to Gregory's home in the 9100 block of Hamilton Avenue and detained him.

Officers brought the victim to Gregory's address and the victim positively identified Gregory as the person who had tried to rob him.

Clothing reportedly worn during the attempted robbery was found inside Gregory's home.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will formally charge Gregory in the coming days.
