Former President Bill Clinton gave a vigorous defense of President Barack Obama, telling Indiana Democrats that Obama has done what was needed to spark the economy.
Clinton said while concerns about the growing federal deficit are legitimate, Obama has had to "build a bridge over troubled waters" with the economic stimulus package and the rescue plan for General Motors and Chrysler.
Clinton made his comments Saturday evening at a fundraising dinner for the Indiana Democratic Party.
The speech marked Clinton's return to Indiana after making dozens of campaign stops in the state last year on behalf of his wife Hillary as she faced Obama in the presidential primary. He recalled his Indiana campaigning, telling the 1,500 people at the dinner that he loved it all.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
