Drowning victim's friend now charged with reckless homicide

The friend of a slain Anderson man has now been charged with reckless homicide.

Matt Hosier died on his 29th birthday after he and his friend, Dillon Barrett, got into an altercation at Lake Monroe.

The probable cause affidavit said "Barrett was applying a choke hold around the neck of the deceased victim" when they both fell into the water.

It also said Barrett continued to choke Hosier while the two were in the lake.

Hosier died from asphyxiation and drowning. He was laid to rest Thursday.
