The City of Indianapolis will help honor the Indiana Fever’s first WNBA Championship with a parade and downtown celebrations Tuesday afternoon.

The Fever beat the Minnesota Lynx by 87 to 78 in game 4 for the championship title Sunday evening.

This is the team's first WNBA Championship title, but it was the eighth consecutive trip to the WNBA playoffs.

The win is the city’s first professional basketball championship since the 1973 Indiana Pacers won the ABA crown.

Fans are invited to help honor the team Tuesday beginning at noon with a parade starting on Monument Circle and ending outside Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The parade will travel south on Meridian Street, three blocks to Georgia Street.  The route will go east one block on Georgia Street, to Pennsylvania Street, where the celebration will hit center stage outside the Fieldhouse.

A float carrying Fever players will be escorted by fire and police vehicles.  The four-block parade route is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.
