The 4-year-old girl who was injured after being hit by a pickup truck at the Indiana State Fair last week is listed in fair condition.
A spokesperson with the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health said Madalynn Gembala had a follow-up surgical procedure Monday and continues to recover from injuries sustained in the crash.
Friday, the Gembala released a statement, saying Madalynn suffered two broken arms, a crushed pelvis and internal injuries.
According to Indiana State Police, Madalynn was with her mother on the west side of the fairgrounds in an area where travel trailers and motor homes are parked. Police said the area is often used by employees working the Midway.
According to several witnesses, Madalynn broke free from her mom and stepped into the path of a Ford pickup truck, which hit her.
State troopers said the driver of the truck showed no signs of impairment.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
