Governor Mitch Daniels returned home after undergoing surgery to his right knee Friday morning.
The surgery was to repair a torn meniscus. A spokesperson said the surgery was successful.
Dr. Sandy Kunkel, an Indianapolis surgeon who performed the governor’s rotator cuff surgery earlier this year, also performed the arthroscopic surgery.
“Forty years of running has finally caused some wear and tear. I’m told I should be back on my feet within a few days,” said Daniels in a statement Thursday.
The governor’s office said Daniels had a sense of humor before he had the surgery. They said the governor wrote “this one dummy” on his right leg to help the doctor differentiate which leg needed the procedure. However, Dr. Kunkel played a joke as well. The doctor painted Daniels’ toenails cotton-candy pink.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
