Marion County Health Department offers flu shots Monday

The Marion County Public Health Department begins flu shot clinics Monday.

The vaccine is recommended for anyone who is at least six months or older, and especially for those who might be at higher risk to developing serious complications.

Those at higher risk include

  • People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease
  • Pregnant women
  • People 65 years or older
  • People who live or care for those who are at high risk of developing serious complications

According to the Marion County Public Health Department (MCHD), the flu season is unpredictable and can begin as early as October lasting through late April.

MCHD is offering flu vaccines for $15, pneumococcal vaccines for $40 and tetanus (Td or Tdap) for $20. 

Vaccines for children under two years old are free.

Community flu clinics will be located throughout Indianapolis between October 1 and November 13 at the following locations:
