Northwest side retirement community expanding

A northwest side retirement community is expanding to keep up with the need.

Hoosier Village's expansion near 96th Street and Zionsville Road means 50 news jobs when the project is completed and 125 construction related jobs until then.

This expansion comes as the senior citizen population is projected to grow. By 2030, the number of people 65 years and older is expected to double.

"There are of people in terms of population in that age group that is growing constantly and we will just see an ever increasing need as years go by,” said John Dattilo.

The expansion project is expected to wrap up in July. It will include a 20,000 square foot community and memory support center.
